Seamless Connectivity: EDGE DC and APJII Launch IIX at EDGE2 Jakarta

Jakarta, April 22, 2025 – PT Ekagrata Data Gemilang (“EDGE DC”), a leading data center operator offering low-latency and carrier-neutral solutions in the heart of Jakarta, has enhanced its digital infrastructure in collaboration with the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (“APJII”) by launching a Point of Presence (“PoP”) for the Indonesia Internet Exchange (“IIX”) at its second facility, EDGE2, located in Kuningan Mulia, South Jakarta.
Following the launch of the IIX PoP at their first data center, EDGE1, in 2022, EDGE DC has now strengthened its data center network by establishing the IIX PoP at its second data center, EDGE2. The presence of the IIX PoP at EDGE2 will simplify connectivity for APJII members to the IIX, one of the largest Internet Exchanges in Indonesia. By localizing network traffic at EDGE2, direct routes between network operators can be established, thereby enhancing customer experience with lower latency. This collaboration between APJII and EDGE DC significantly supports the development of internet infrastructure in Indonesia, especially with EDGE2’s world-class technology facilities.

The Chairman of APJII, Muhamad Arif, also welcomed the launch of the IIX PoP at EDGE2. He emphasized that this initiative provides a much more efficient connectivity option for APJII members, particularly for internet service providers in Jakarta and surrounding areas.
“With direct interconnection to dozens of network operators on the EDGE DC campus, members can not only reduce upstream bandwidth costs but also significantly lower latency,” he said.

Furthermore, Arif expressed his support for the government’s policy direction in developing the national digital ecosystem.
“We fully support the President’s and the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs’ policy shift that transforms local content requirements (TKDN) from a mandatory obligation into an incentive-based approach. This aligns with the needs of the ISP industry, as regulatory flexibility like this will accelerate the development of data centers and a more competitive national interconnection ecosystem,” he added.
He also highlighted the importance of synergy between the industry and the government.
“The partnership between APJII and EDGE DC at EDGE2 is a tangible example of how industry collaboration can align with government policy directions. We believe this kind of synergy will attract more high-quality digital infrastructure investment that supports the TKDN policy relaxation and the national trade diplomacy agenda,” Arif concluded.
Stephanus Oscar, CEO of EDGE DC, added,
“EDGE2 is the largest operating data center in the metropolitan area, with a total IT Load of 23 MW and over 3,400 racks. Built following the success of EDGE1, EDGE2 offers unmatched scalability and connectivity options, including access to more than 60 network operators through its virtual campus. The presence of IIX at EDGE2 will certainly strengthen the connectivity ecosystem and provide superior options for our customers”
